Recently, Tom’s work had a contest based on Riedel glassware sales. The incentive was something like a “Riedel dollar” for every x amount of glassware sold.
Tom placed third (yay Tom!) with $1400 worth of Riedel credits. Wholesale value.
We had a blast deciding what to get (Riedel offers specific glasses for wines I’ve never even heard of, plus some); we haven’t put so much thought into glassware since registering for our wedding back in 2001.
We got a ton of glassware.
Beautiful, pricey, lead crystal glassware: for pinot noir, for cabernet sauvignon, for merlot, for syrah, for riesling, for dessert wine, for port, for beer, for martinis, for sparkling wine, for champagne. Plus a fancy decanter.
It is all so very lovely and, best of all, was all free. FREE.
We are in glassware up to our ears. More than we could ever use.
Not that it’s a bad thing.
So here is our china hutch now (the photo doesn’t do this piece of furniture justice, it is an amazing antique given first from my Nonnie to my mom, then on to me, plus this only represents maybe 1/16 of the loot)–
Ay, so I suppose that now everyone on our Christmas list knows what they’ll be getting this year…
