This summer, a highlight of our days has been picking heirloom tomatoes from our garden.
We’ve finally succeeded in teaching Samantha that one cannot eat all the tomatoes one picks.
She now comes in the house with quite the harvest and is very proud of herself.
I hope that when she’s a grown-up, she’ll grow heirloom tomatoes in her garden.
And those tomatoes will remind us of that summer she was almost three, when we lived in downtown Saint Helena in that lovely Victorian, and picked tomatoes every evening.
