The first significant rains of the season took place a few weeks back.
Now, the Napa Valley is taking on the signature emerald of winter.
Though the grapes leaves are all withered and dry and pruning in earnest is about to begin, the cover crops are beginning to sprout and grow.
I don’t know what this particular cover crop is (I was told several varieties–and the mustard may be the most famous–are utilized), but it is amazing to see this fresh, crisp, bright green popping up at this time of year.
