The Sprinkler

It’s been hot here in the Napa Valley.
But not as hot as I hear it is on the East Coast right now though. And humidity too. Ugh.

Do you remember that shocking yet sweet feeling of running through the sprinkler on a hot day?

Family-Friendly: Fourth of July Weekend 2010

It’s hard to believe that another Fourth of July weekend is winding down. Has an entire year really gone by?

This year, with Samantha going on five, has been much different than last.
Last year she was still more of a toddler; this year, she is surely a little girl.

Vineyard Updates 2010: #5

The most interesting change since Update #4 is the grow of the grape clusters in the second photo below. The leaf canopy hasn’t seemed to have grown much, with the exception of filling out some.

Purple Podded Pole Beans

This season’s first harvest from the vegetable garden:

Behold the power of the band-aid

My four–AND A HALF–year old demands a band-aid for every little scrape, cut, or bruise.

She gets a lot of those at her age.

Anyway it’s, ah, miraculous how the band-aids help.

But somehow I don’t think a band-aid will help here much:

Sweet Summertime

After unusually late rains this season, summertime has finally arrived here in the Napa Valley.

Remember when you were a kid and how sweet those first days of summertime would be?

First Tomatoes

This weekend, we noticed the first of our heirloom tomatoes.

It’s officially (finally) summertime here in the Napa Valley.
