There’s nothing quite like the ice cream parlor.

And this one is family-owned, with a nostalgic old-fashion atmosphere.

In addition to the 20 or so flavors of ice cream, the Big Dipper also offers beverages from the soda fountain and the espresso machine, homemade treats, even hot dogs and the like.

They also sell those candies you remember from YOUR childhood. Laffy Taffy. Candy Buttons. Lemon Heads.

Who: All ages

What: A yummy blast from the past

Where: 1336 Oak Street, Saint Helena (one block west of Main Street near Adams Street)

When: The mood strikes

Why: To treat the family (and to fulfill that craving of yours)

Note: The Big Dipper is so authentically old-fashion that, not only do they not have a real website–at least one I could find with a semi-thorough search, they only accept cash
